A True Transformation Story!
Ava, one of my private clients, is a 48 year-old mother of 2 wonderful kids and an accountant. Her husband travels constantly for work. She is naturally a skeptic, and always makes me laugh with her shocked facial expressions when I tell her something she doesn’t believe. Like when I first told her that I don’t count calories with my clients, she displayed more than her usual level of disbelief. “How do I know how much I’m supposed to eat when you’re not around?” “I have been counting calories for years!” I teased her, “And it hasn’t really been working for you, has it?”
She was really nervous about eating too much. Her main goal was to lose 30 pounds
She started my 12 week program and was soon delighted to realize that she was losing weight without counting calories. We focused on starting each morning with an Energizing Green Smoothie. Lunch was usually a salad with veggies that included avocado for healthy fat. She started each meal with raw veggies as an appetizer and worked slowly towards increasing them, instead of constantly snacking on crackers and drinking diet sodas between meals. We met 2 times per month by Skype, and shared information and progress reports weekly with by email. I made tweaks in her plan, shared recipes and offered constant support. We developed a stress management plan and talked a lot about self-care and finding work-life-family balance.
Her body has become more energized, and her cravings have started to diminish. Since we started working together 6 months ago (she is now on my maintenance plan), she has lost over 25 pounds! But most importantly, she is keeping it off. In the past, when counting calories and following a diet, she always gained the weight back……but not this time. These days, she is not such a skeptic!
